5 Signs You Need ClearCorrect®

ClearCorrect® aligners are the way to go if you are interested in teeth straightening treatments that will not compromise the way that your smile looks. Unlike traditional metal braces that are permanently fixed in place once a dentist installs them, ClearCorrect aligners are removable devices, making treatment with them less restrictive.

How to determine if you need ClearCorrect

Certain teeth alignment issues are more obvious than others. A bite evaluation performed by a dentist helps pinpoint any issues with the alignment of the teeth. Signs that a patient might be due for a bite evaluation include the following.

1. Cannot bite evenly into food

Anyone who finds themselves struggling to bite into food or forced to bite down with only one side of their mouth might have poorly aligned teeth. Treatment with ClearCorrect can improve the alignment of the patient's teeth without making eating any more difficult than it already is. The same cannot be said about traditional metal braces.

People who have a hard time biting into food might also notice popping or clicking sounds coming from their jaw. That might be a sign that there is an issue with their temporomandibular joints. These are the hinge-like joints that connect the skull to the lower jaw.

2. Frequently having issues developing in interdental spaces

Crooked, crowded, and misaligned teeth are harder to clean than straight ones. That makes them more vulnerable to issues like tooth decay, especially in interdental spaces. Poor teeth alignment creates spaces where food particles and debris can accumulate, giving oral bacteria the fuel that they need to create acids that eat away at teeth.

3. Premature loss of baby teeth

Baby teeth falling out of the mouth prematurely can lead to teeth alignment issues down the road. Baby teeth are meant to be temporary, but that does not make their role any less important. They serve as placeholders for the permanent teeth that come after them. A baby tooth keeps the space for the permanent tooth so it can erupt in its proper alignment.

5. Teeth often biting into the palate, tongue, or cheek

When a person has properly aligned teeth, they should not be biting into the soft tissues in their mouth, like their cheeks. Teeth irritating or biting into these tissues signify that a person’s teeth are not properly aligned. Some people's teeth are so poorly aligned, they might even be making contact with the roof of the mouth.
